Black Man Found Hanging in Atlanta's Piedmont Park

Piedmont Park Hanging - Man found hanging in Atlanta's Piedmont Park.

A body was found hanging from a tree in Piedmont Park on Thursday, according to the AJC. Atlanta police say that it is not being investigated and the body was the victim of a suicide. From The AJC:

Officers were called to the Charles Allen entrance of the park just before 5 a.m. and discovered a man’s body hanging from a tree by a rope, spokesman Donald Hannah said.

Emergency officials arrived on the scene and pronounced the man dead, Hannah said.

A Fulton County medical examiner told the AJC that “There were no discernible signs of a struggle or foul play,” Hannah said. And the death "concurred that the death was consistent with a suicide.” The identity of the man has not been released. However, many men and women have taken to Twitter to call out the suicide as a modern day "lynching".
