Clubgoers reveal what it was like inside the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
It has been over 24 hours since the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting and many new details are being released. Initial details included a death toll of 50 with at least an additional 50 people injured. A SWAT team also killed the alleged shooter, Omar Saddiqui Mateen, who started firing a semi-automatic rifle.
At least three people who knew Omar Mateen, have all called him a violent and has a history of homophobic tendencies. The FBI continues to investigate as the media digs deeper into Mateen’s past.
Details of what happened inside the nightclub are being revealed. Some eyewitnesses also revealed what went on inside the club. According to one account, Joshua McGill revealed how he saved a man named Rodney, who had been shot. McGill used his shirt to stop the victim’s bleeding, and he doesn’t know whether Rodney is recovering well from his wounds. So, McGill is getting the word out and hopes one of Rodney’s friends will respond.
McGill also spoke with CBS News about his efforts to save Rodney. As McGill relates, the massacre began just after the club’s last call for drinks. The horror lasted until around 5:00 am when a SWAT team exchanged fire with Mateen. This interview reveals more about how McGill stayed alongside Rodney after the two left the building. At police officers’ instructions, McGill helped keep someone alive and even gave him a “bear hug” to help keep the man from bleeding out before an ambulance arrived. McGill admits he’s still in shock from the event.
Another clubgoer, Luis Burbano, appeared on The Kelly File to explain what he saw and heard during the massacre. Burbano says he witnessed a “domino effect” of several people falling to the ground. He also reveals the chaos and he still can’t believe what happened.
This audio recording, which was captured from across the street of the club, reveals the minutes the SWAT team entered the nightclub. Hundreds of shots are heard throughout the clip, many of these noises involve the SWAT team exchanging fire with Mateen. A lot of the noises were also flash bangs as well, but the overall video is gut-wrenching. You can listen to the audio footage below.
