In the fourth
Age of Extinction, Mark Wahlberg played Cade Yeager, a Texas inventor and mechanic who was also very protective of his daughter, Nicola Peltz's Tessa Yeager. The movie would later go on to gross over $1.1 billion at the global box office, bringing the total
Transformers franchise to a total gross of over $3.7 billion and that doesn't even include merchandise.
Transformers 5 will be written by Iron Man writers Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Ken Nolan from
Black hawk Dawn.
Michael Bay has not officially confirmed his return, however Bay is still the frontrunner to direct the next
Transformers franchise film.
According to reports,
Ant-Man writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari will write an animated "origin story" movie that will focus around the Transformers home world Cybertron.
The new
Transformers movie comes after producers created "Transformers writers room" with Hollywood's biggest writers including
The Walking Dead creator,
Lost writer Jeff Pinkner,
X-Men: The Last Stand writer Zak Penn and
Black List scribes Geneva Robertson-Dworetrepeat.
