‘Insidious: The Red Door’ Generates Impressive $32.6 Million Box Office Opening, Surpassing ‘Indiana Jones 5.’

Insidious: The Red Door exceeded all expectations during its opening weekend at the box office, amassing an astounding $32.6 million in revenue. Serving as the fifth installment in the renowned Insidious franchise, this film claimed the top spot, outperforming Disney’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which garnered $26.5 million in its second weekend.

The Red Door, presumed to be the final chapter in the franchise, was produced with a budget of approximately $16 million, allowing the Sony movie to yield a profit within its first weekend of release across 3,188 domestic theaters. On the contrary, Indiana Jones 5 debuted with $60 million, a significant shortfall compared to its massive budget, which neared $300 million.

The latest addition to the Insidious series also achieved notable success globally, earning $31.4 million from international theaters. The Red Door emerged as the highest-grossing horror film premiere overseas, closely trailing Indiana Jones 5, which held the top spot with $31.8 million. Combining domestic and international sales, The Red Door amassed a remarkable $64 million revenue worldwide during its opening weekend.

During its premiere, Insidious: The Last Key, the franchise’s fourth installment released in 2018, accumulated $29.5 million in its opening weekend. However, the record for the highest opening weekend in the franchise still belongs to 2013’s Insidious: Chapter Two, which amassed $40.2 million upon its debut.

Regarding other films in the domestic box office rankings, Sound of Freedom secured the third position, followed by Pixar’s Elemental in fourth place, and Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse held fifth place.

Insidious: The Red Door features the return of original cast members Patrick Wilson, Ty Simpkins, Andrew Astor, and Rose Byrne. Additionally, Wilson took on the role of director for this installment.
