“Gravity” Leads Weekend Sales and Breaks 3-D Record Numbers

Date:

“Gravity” is leading box office sales with the largest opening day since “Paranormal Activity 3”

According to Fandango, “Gravity” will set a 3-D pre-sale record .

This number of sales will outbeat the record set by “Avatar”. Which is interesting because the number of 3-D sales have been decreasing recently.

“Runner Runner” is expected to sell $10 to 12 million this weekend. While producers for “Captain Phillips”, Tom Hanks film about Somali pirates, are attempting more a social media/ word-of-mouth campaign before a wide release.

Both “Captain Phillips” and now “Gravity” will be the topic of discussion for the awards shows. But, with the large amount of sales it is reasonable to believe that “Gravity” will remain a classic.
