‘Fast and Furious 7’ Resumes Filming and Production

Date:

Universal’s action feature film delayed production after Paul Walker died in a tragic car accident in November.

Now after a four month hiatus, Fast & Furious 7, resumed production on Monday, March 31st.

Director James Wan posted a picture on Instagram Monday of a placard from set. Wan wrote “First day back filming. Better and stronger.”

The Universal production, which will shoot in Abu Dhabi in April, will bring back the whole cast and crew including Vin DieselMichelle RodriguezTyrese Gibson and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges. Wan, who is taking over as director of the franchise from Justin Lin, has about one year to film the project which is due in theaters on April 10, 2015.

Fast and Furious 7 was half way completed when Paul Walker, who played Brian O’Conner, was killed in a car crash in Valencia, California on November 30th.

The tragedy required the film’s original release to date to be pushed back and writer Chris Morgan to go over the existing footage while tweaking the script.

It is not reported that Paul Walker will not be killed off in the movie but will retire. It is expected that producers will use CGI and photo doubles to complete scenes.

The first footage from the action car franchise first debuted at CinemaCon in Las Vegas last week. The preview featured Paul Walker and the gang sitting in cars that dropped out of an airplane and parachute their way to the ground.

If you are in the Abu Dhabi area, this could be your chance to be on Fast and Furious 7 until production returns to Atlanta, Georgia to complete filming.

Mohamed Koaik, the chief executive of the Mena agency, commented on interested talents. “[Applicants] don’t need prior experience, there are no lines involved and you must just dress a certain way on the day.” He said,  “The requirements are a beach outfit for during the day and in another the men will have to wear suits.”

It also seems like a lot of people have a shot at being a part of the blockbuster franchise. Koaik suggested that he was looking for a large number.

“The more the better in these big productions,” he said. “If there was a street race or something they would want tons of people and if they could have 500 people I guess they would want 500.”

Interested cadidates can apply via the MENA website
