New: Dave Chappelle to Host ‘Saturday Night Live’

This November, ‘SNL‘ will be hosted by Dave Chappelle, and the musical guest will be Black Star.

The upcoming November 12 episode of Saturday Night Live will be hosted by Dave Chappelle, with Black Star as the musical guest. The pair are also the creators of The Midnight Miracle, the award-winning podcast on Luminary.

The comedian will return to host the show following the midterm elections in the United States, marking his third time hosting after a crucial election in America; he most recently hosted episodes that aired after both the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections. Black Star, made up of Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey, will perform soon after releasing their second album in 24 years, No Fear of Time, on Luminary.

Who is Dave Chappelle?

Dave Chappelle is a stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer. He began his career as a stand-up comic before moving into television and film. Chappelle is best known for his critically acclaimed and groundbreaking sketch comedy television series, Chappelle’s Show (2003-2006). He has also appeared in a number of films, including Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993), The Nutty Professor (1996), Con Air (1997), You’ve Got Mail (1998), Blue Streak (1999), Undercover Brother (2002), and Equally Distributed (2004). In recent years, Chappelle has made a number of high-profile stand-up comedy appearances, including on The Oprah Winfrey Show (2006), Jimmy Kimmel Live! (2007), and Saturday Night Live (2016). He is currently working on a new stand-up comedy special for Netflix.

Dave Chappelle was born in Washington, D.C. on August 24, 1973. He was raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. Chappelle’s father, William David Chappelle III, was a professor at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio; his mother, Yvonne K. Chappelle Seon, was a professor at Howard University in Washington, D.C. His parents divorced when he was young and he was raised by his mother. Chappelle has two older brothers, William S. Chappelle and Robert L. Chappelle.

Chappelle began performing stand-up comedy in his early teens. He moved to New York City after graduating from high school to pursue a career in comedy. He soon began appearing on television shows such as Star Search (1993) and Def Comedy Jam (1993). In 2003, Chappelle created and starred in his own sketch comedy television series, Chappelle’s Show. The show was an instant hit with audiences and critical acclaim. Chappelle’s Show ran for two seasons on Comedy Central before Chappelle abruptly left the show in 2005.
