Channing Tatum's 'Gambit' Director Quits Weeks Before Filming

Fox is now looking for a new director after director Rupert Wyatt quits working on the Gambit movie weeks before filming.

After reports that Channing Tatum was fired and then rehired to work on Fox's Gambit movie, it looks as though producers have just lost their director. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Director Rupert Wyatt has "fallen off" Gambit, the upcoming X-Men spinoff being made by Fox.
One source told The Hollywood Reporter that a changing script caused the film's budget to be larger than expected, extending the shoot, and prompting the push. Another source said that the shooting schedule around Mardi Gras caused the reshuffling. Either way, it became a conflict for Wyatt, who had to exit.
Channing-Tatum-Gambit "I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project," said Wyatt in a statement. "I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film." The movie is an important project for Fox. The movie studio is attempting to build a cinematic universe around Channing Tatum and his character, Gambit.
