BET Renews ‘The Game’, The Real Husbands of Hollywood and ‘Being Mary Jane’ – Prepares for New Series

BET has announced that they plan on renewing The Game, The Real Husbands of Hollywood, and Being Mary Jane for another season.

But, BET also plans on releasing other new series including a mini-series called The Book of Negros. The new mini-series is based on the Commonwealth Prize-winning novel by Lawrence Hill and centers on the story of Aminita Diallo, who was abducted at age 11 from her village in West Africa and sent to live as a slave in South Carolina. The story centers on her capture and enslavement in America and finally her freedom in England.

BET is also partnering up with Diggy Simmons for a new scripted television series The Start Up which centers on hip-hop rapper Diggy Simmons, as a founder of an entertainment and lifestyle blog TheJetsetters.com. The series will center on what it means to be young, and gifted while trying to navigate through adulthood.

THE START UP – In The Start Up, hip-hop prince Diggy Simmons makes his scripted series debut as Blake Monroe, founder of TheJetsetters.com, an entertainment and lifestyle blog. The Start Up hones in on what it means to be young, gifted and digital, as Blake and his friends strategize for fame and financing while they navigate the freedoms and pressures of adulthood. Also stars Teyana Taylor, Bria Murphy, Allen Maldonado, Chris Brew, and Stephanie Charles. GOT GAME – When eligible men and women have to woo a new prospect without relying on their great looks, killer body or fashion sense, it all comes down to whether they’ve Got Game?
