Anthony Hopkins is not dead.

Anthony Hopkins is the latest actor to become the victim to the long list of celebrity death hoaxes. People have shared stories on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram that the award winning actor has died. But once again, you can’t trust everything you read on the Internet. A quick search would make it clear that the actor is still alive and working on a new HBO series Westworld, which is currently filming in Los Angeles, California.

Media Mass reported that Anthony Hopkins had died on Saturday, May 7, 2016. The cause of death was listed as heart failure, and fans were quick to share their condolences for the actor. However, an update by the site made it very clear that it was just another hoax, and the actor was still alive. It didn’t take very long before Anthony Hopkins’ reps told the media that there stories were false and just another celebrity death hoax.

It’s unknown why fake news sites spread celebrity death hoaxes as fans all over the world become devastated to hear that their favorite actor, model, or talent has died. In some cases, family members may even hear about the news through social media. It is a major shock, and numerous celebrities have bashed Internet trolls for spreading celebrity death hoaxes.

Dozens of actors, models, and talent have become victims of celebrity death hoaxes including Jackie Chan, Gabourey Sidibe and Paul McCartney. Anthony Hopkins’ celebrity death hoax is just another way people are using innocent people’s grief to go viral and presumably make money.
