Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is moving forward with his upcoming Starz series “Black Mafia Family”.
Starz has given 50 Cent an eight-episode, straight-to-series order for the drama series BMF, highlighting the fifth scripted series the rapper and producer has in the works. The series will film in 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia.
The upcoming Black Mafia Family series is an upcoming drug trafficking drama based on the true story of two brothers who rose from the streets of southwest Detroit in the 1980s to becoming one of the most powerful crime families in America. The show will focus on brothers Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, who took their vision beyond the drug trade and into the business of hip-hop. The series, according to Starz, will tell a story about love, family, and capitalism in America.
Randy Huggins from Power and Star will write the script and executive produce the series alongside 50 Cent and his G-Unit Film and TV production company.
"This is a project Curtis has always been incredibly passionate about and we are excited to have him as our partner in bringing it to life," Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch said. "Black Mafia Family has all the hallmarks of a great drama, from the larger-than-life Flenory brothers to the deadly, high-stakes world they inhabited. This series is going to be an incredible ride for audiences around the world."
Black Mafia Family is 50 Cent’s fourth new series at Starz following the premium network’s ending of their hit series Power. 50 Cent, who also executive producers ABC’s For Life, will also executive produce all four of Power spinoffs alongside showrunner Courtney A. Kemp.
"I told you Black Mafia Family was coming and it’s going to be the biggest show on television,” Jackson said. “Meech and Terry are legends and I am excited to bring their story to Starz."
Black Mafia Family Cast:
Russell Hornsby and Steve Harris were added to the series as regular cast additions. Hornsby will play Charles Flenory, the leader of the family. Harris plays Detective Bryant. Kash Doll will also join the cast as a recurring character, playing a paralegal for the biggest defense attorney in Detroit.

(Original Post January 2, 2020) 50 Cent's new TV series for STARZ, BMF, is now casting speaking roles.
As we previously reported, 50 Cent is now casting speaking roles and lead roles for his new TV series for the Starz network, BMF. But, in a surprise twist, 50 Cent and the G Unit Film and Television production company are also seeking submissions for other upcoming STARZ network TV series. 50 Cent is now casting speaking roles for BMF and will be holding live casting calls across the country. "You know the Vibes, it’s time to work people let’s go. #lecheminduroi," 50 Cent posted on Facebook.

50 Cent's Deal with Starz
In 2018, 50 Cent landed a major deal with the Starz Network to develop and produce more shows following the success of Power, a current show he executive produces, which has achieved record-breaking success for the platform.
One of those upcoming projects surrounds the life and story of the notorious drug gang Black Mafia Family also known as BMF.
50 Cent announced that he would be holding open castings for “BMF” in Detroit, St. Louis, New York, and Los Angeles. 50 Cent described what type of actors he’d be looking for, and it’s those who aren’t yet polished or discovered. Instead, he wants to find the next breakout star. “Casting for my ‘BMF’ series will be handled differently,” he wrote on Facebook. “It will not require talent to have an agent to read for a roll. I’m gonna find some diamonds in the dirt on this one.”

The Black Mafia Family was a drug trafficking organization based in Detroit, Michigan by brothers Demetrius and Terry Flenory. By 2000, they had an established drug distribution across the United States with direct links to Mexican-based drug cartels.
BMF established two main hubs for their operations including Atlanta, Georgia and Los Angeles, California. By the early 2000s, the organization tried to legitimize themselves by entering the music business by starting BMF Entertainment. Through BMF Entertainment, they would promote artists including Fabolous and Young Jeezy and associate with high-profile artists including E40, Trina, Shawty Lo, and Jay Z.

In 2005, the Drug Enforcement Administration indicted members of the Black Mafia Family. The Flenory brothers were sentenced to 30 years in prison. Over 150 members of the organization received subsequent indictments. Prosecutors claimed the organization made over $270 million.
