About Tyler Perry’s ‘Six Triple Eight’:
Tyler Perry is teaming up with Netflix for his next movie project: ‘Six Triple Eight,’ which will tell the story of the pioneering all-black female battalion from WWII.
Netflix is thrilled to have Tyler Perry directing his fourth film, Six Triple Eight. This movie follows the incredible 6888th battalion of brave and determined African-American women who served in World War II. A story of bravery and persistence that needs to be told!

Perry retold Kevin M. Hymel’s fascinating article featured initially in Sovereign Media’s WWII History Magazine for a contemporary audience.
With little awareness of the tasks, 855 women from The 6888th joined the war. Nonetheless, they were swiftly assigned an unparalleled mission: to untangle and deliver a backlogged mail pile that had been accumulating for three years. Despite the immense task, which many thought to be unfeasible, these women accomplished it in only half of the allocated time.
Despite encountering prejudice and a hostile environment ravaged by war, they sorted over 17 million pieces of mail – uniting American soldiers with their families back home. It was an astounding achievement that they will not soon forget.
The 6888th Postal Directory Battalion persevered through adversity with their inspiring motto, “No Mail, Low Morale.” These women have finally received the recognition they deserve – President Joe Biden signed a bill on March 14 to award the Congressional Gold Medals in honor of their service. This is Congress’ highest honor, and it is about time this story has been brought to national light.
Perry is teaming up with Nicole Avant and Her Excellency Productions, Keri Selig from Intuition Productions, Carlota Espinosa, and Angi Bones, along with Tony Strickland for Tyler Perry Studios. Mandalay Pictures’ Peter Guber will take executive production roles on this project.
Tyler Perry’s directorial efforts have been a significant success for Netflix, boasting A Fall From Grace, A Madea Homecoming, and A Jazzman’s Blues, all in the Top 10 of 43 and 55 countries, respectively. He was also part of Adam McKay’s box office hit film Don’t Look Up, one of the streamer service’s most famous films.
