Disney’s ‘High School Musical 4’ Open Casting Call for Lead Roles

Date:

Disney Channel is now casting lead role for High School Musical 4.

Disney Channel has just announced a nationwide casting search for High School Musical 4, a sequel to the wildly popular High School Musical franchise. The Disney Channel Original Movie franchise concluded in 2008 with the theatrical release of High School Musicical 3: Senior Year, which said goodbye to Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and several other Disney stars.

According to reports, Jeffrey Hornaday, who worked on Disney’s Teen Beach Movie franchise, will direct and choreograph High School Musical 4which will once again take place at East High and follow the school’s world famous Wildcats as well as their rivals West High Knights.

Dan Berendsen from Baby Daddy will write the screenplay alongside Peter Barsocchini, who wrote all three High School Musical movies.

Disney Channel’s Worldwide president, Gary Marsh, said “High School Musical is part of Disney Channel’s DNA. It embodies all that we stand for. As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we’re excited to announce ‘the start of something new’ – as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the High School Musical franchise.”

The original High School Musical made Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens popular and world famous. The film’s first broadcast in 2006 reached over 7.7 million viewers and the album went triple platinum. If you think you’re the next Zac Efron, consider attending Disney’s open casting call this spring.

Disney said Tuesday that it is holding an open casting call for High School Musical 4 via an app.

Young actors, singers and dancers ages 14-17 can submit videos via the Disney Applause App, available on both iOS and Android. Auditions will be accepted starting Monday through May 2. (Guidelines on how to submit an audition can be found here.)

Disney said this isn’t a contest, nor is there a fee to audition.
