ElleQ Casting is now casting actors for the upcoming faith-based feature film Breakthrough brought to you by the team that created the stage play A Soldier’s Story. The movie will be directed by Chairmin Lee and centers around the story of a young aspiring ballet dancer (Heaven) who is destined for greatness. Her mother (Faith) is a single parent; facing many challenges of her own as she supports her daughter’s passion. Casting directors are casting lead speaking roles in the new movie.

ATLANTA: Now Casting for Faith Based Feature film “Breakthrough”…From the team who brought you the stage play “A Solidier’s Play”.

Brief Synopsis:
Breakthrough is an inspirational faith based film, which tells the story of a young aspiring ballet dancer (Heaven) who is destined for greatness. Her mother (Faith) is a single parent; facing
many challenges of her own as she supports her daughter’s passion. Her father (Jared) financially supports her; however (Jared) has found new love and is engaged to be married for the first time. Her grandmother (Grace) is the glue that keeps the family together. Heaven journeys take a turn for the worse when she is forced to call the police on her mother’s abusive boyfriend (William). (William) being a first time defender, was charged with a simple assault/misdemeanor and placed on house arrest. Affected by the outcome, (William) becomes psychotic and seeks redemption to prove his love for (Faith). Despite the circumstance, (Heaven) has to cope with the reality of her family’s struggles while pressuring her dreams. As the story unfolds, (Heaven) will
be challenged by tough decisions, pushed to her potential, and embraces her destiny that God has planned for her; His grace over her life will position her path to overcoming life adversities
which will ultimately propel her to greatness.

Faith (African-American) is the mother of Heaven. She comes from a good family, but throughout her life as an adult, she has
struggle financially, moved around countless times, made bad
choices with men.
[WILLIAM JENKINS] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 35-45]
William (African-American) is Faith’s boyfriend. He comes from broken home. Through his struggles, it has been hard for him to find a consistent job; because of his frustration, he drinks
heavily and becomes violent and aggressive.
[HEAVEN COOPER] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 18-25]
Heaven (African-American) is a beautiful and extraordinary young woman. However, because of her mother’s struggles, she has
taught herself how to be independent and strong-minded. Her
passion is dancing and because of her determination, God has
given her the gift to master the art of classical ballet. ***MUST BE A TRAINED BALLET DANCER***
[GRACE DRYE] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 50-60]
Grace (African-American) is the mother of Faith. She is very
family orient; she has been a widow for five years and has no
intention to remarry. She is very religious and outspoken. She
is retired; therefore she dedicates herself to the church.
[JARED COOPER][GENDER: MALE][AGE: 35-45]
Jared (African-American) is the father of Heaven. He has a good
job, which allows him to support his daughter’s passion to
pursuing ballet. His relation with Faith is not best; therefore,
both of them tolerate each other for the sake of Heaven.
[OFFICER LORENZO DARYL] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 35-45]
Lorenzo (Any Ethnicity) has served with the police city force for 10 years and
is proud to be a police officer.
SUPPORTING CAST
[OFFICER KEITH MELTON] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 20-30]
Keith (Any Ethnicity) is a rookie on the force; he has been a police officer for six months.
[MRS. TOWNSEND] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 30-40]
Mrs. Townsend (Caucasian) has performed as a professional ballet
for 15 years. Now, she teaches ballet to aspiring young dancers
at the university.
[DUSTIN SKINNER] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 40-50]
Skinner (Caucasian) is the Dean at Mercury University. He is
proud alumni and supports all programs at the university.
[JENA LOWE] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 18-25]
Jena (Caucasian) is twenty years old; Caucasian. Her parents are
very wealthy; and they put a lot of pressure on her to dance
ballet. She has the talent, but it’s not her passion. ***MUST BE A TRAINED BALLET DANCER***
[JUSTIN TURNER] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 18-25]
Justin (African-American) is senior in college and plays
basketball for the school. He respects his father role as the
major, but he has no interest in politics.
[MICHAEL TURNER] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 40-50]
Michael Turner (African-American) is the father of Justin. He is
a very respectable and honest man. He has been elected again as
the city’s major and plans to continue providing opportunities
for the community.
[LISA TURNER] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 40-50]
Lisa (African-American) is married to Michael. She is very
sophisticated; she comes from a political background due to her
father being a former major.
[JOHN TOMAS] [GENDER: MALE] [AGE: 40-50]
John (Caucasian) is Mr. Turner right-hand man. He served on the
campaign with Mr. Turner, securing his victory as the major.
[AMY TOMAS] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 40-50]
Amy (Any Ethnicity) married to John; a trophy wife with
no interest in politics.
[JANICE TUCKER] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 35-45]
Janice (African-American) is the fiancée to Jared. She loves
Jared despite their differences.
[JAN TUNNER] [GENDER: FEMALE] [AGE: 40-50]
Jan (Caucasian) is the owner of Jan’s Restaurant, which is a
family own business.

This is a NON UNION, NON PAID opportunity, definitely a resume builder as there are many speaking roles. It is a great film, with a great team attached (I would not be casting otherwise). This week many actors inquired about principal roles…once or twice a year I will take on a project like this if I believe in the film. Breakthrough is one of those projects…yes you will have to work hard and the short term benefits aren’t much but think long term.
