Southwest Wants to Fly You Around the World for Free to Take Photos

Date:

Are you sick of your job? Or are you looking for a new career after getting laid off? Southwest Airlines is looking for influencers and storytellers to help create travel content and is willing to reward top candidates with free flights around the world.

Southwest Airlines is looking for a well-traveled Instagram influencer to take Instagram photos that tell a story, according to a press release by the company. Interested influencers will “compete” to win 12 round trip e-pass tickets from Southwest, valued at $4,800, according to USA Today.

Applicants must be 21 and older and have a minimum of 2,500 Instagram followers. If you match the description, you have to follow @southwestair on Instagram and pick your best travel photo. The image must be captioned with something that “Tells a compelling story,” according to the news release. Southwest Airlines must be tagged in the caption with the hashtags “#SouthwestStorytellers” and “#Contest.”

After applications are in, Southwest will select 100 photos and invite influencers to fill out a survey about their background as social media influencer and why they’d be the best fit for the gig.

If you are selected for the final round, you will be one of 10 Instagram influencers asked to post a photo based on a brief sent to you by Southwest Airlines. There is no telling what the brief will be, but it’s nothing frequent flyer miles cannot handle. Judges will select a grand prize winner and award a smaller group of winners other prizes.

First and second place winners will get 12 and six free flight e-passes, respectively. Two people will be selected for third place and receive a Southwest gift card worth $500. The airline will also select five people for fourth place, who will receive 10,000 Southwest Airline Rapid Rewards points.

As for the grand prize winner? They will receive the opportunity to travel to any of Southwest’s destinations in the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America. The only thing they have to do is take engaging travel content along the way, which is a small price to pay for free trips.

Interested? Find more information here and get to applying.
