‘Matilda’ Movie Open Casting Call for Speaking Roles (UPDATE)

Matilda‘ movie is now casting the lead speaking role in London, England.

Matilda casting directors are now casting actors, models, and talent to work on scenes filming in London, England.

Producers are seeking the following types:

  • Children of all ethnicities to apply. No experience required, just an inquisitive mind and a good singing voice. Physically small, must be 4FT3 or under, and 9 years old or over by February 2021 for licensing reasons.
    • Matilda – Matilda is not quick to smile. She is very bright and inquisitive about the world around her, and the world beyond here. Matilda is strong, independent, self-sufficient, and direct in the way she communicates; she is a storyteller. She has had quite a tough life so far, and not much help from the adults around her; she is able to meet her own needs quite proficiently, she is a survivor.

About ‘Matilda’:

According to London Theater, Matthew Warchus will direct ‘Matilda’. Warchus previously directed the production at the Royal Shakespeare Company’s musical a-ration which ran at the Cambridge theater since 2011.

The upcoming film adaption will be the second time ‘Matilda’ was shown on screen. Mara Wilson starred as the leading character in the 1996, directed by and starring Danny DeVito as Harry Wormwood, Matilda’s father, with appearances by Pam Ferris, Embeth Davidtz and Rhea Perlman.

‘Matilda centers around a young school girl who gets bullied by her parents, classmates and headmistress Miss Trunchbull. Forming a friendship with Miss Honey, Matilda takes a stand, even if she has to get a little naughty alone the way.

Lucy Bevan Casting (‘Cinderella’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Hobbs and Shaw’) is currently looking for a girl to play the title role in an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Matilda, directed by Matthew Warchus and produced by Working Title Films.

We encourage children of all ethnicities to apply. No experience required, just an inquisitive mind and a good singing voice. Physically small, must be 4FT3 or under, and 9 years old or over by February 2021 for licensing reasons. Please only apply if your child meets these requirements.

Lucy Bevan Casting, the casting director behind ‘Fast & Furious: Hobbs and Shaw’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Cinderella’, is currently casting a boy to play the role of Bruce Bogtrotter in an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s ‘Matilda’ directed by Matthew Warchus and produced by Working Title Films.

Producers are looking for the following types:

  • Bruce Bogtrotter – Bruce is a classmate of Matilda, in Year 3. He loves food and has a huge appetite.
  • Producers are looking for a boy with a fantastic singing voice and good movement, who is confident and heavyset, characterful, and with a sense of humor.
  • No previous acting experience is necessary.
  • Looking for a boy of any ethnicity, aged 9 to 10 years old who is 4ft 6 or under.
  • Must be aged 9 or over by September 2020 for licensing reasons.

How to apply:

Applications must be submitted by a teacher-parent or legal guardian.

Every application will be considered, but casting cannot respond to all applications. Casting directors will be in touch if they would like to invite your child to audition. Please note, casting directors are only accepting submissions for the role of Bruce.
