CBS “Under the Dome” Executive Produced by Stephen King is Now Seeking Talent

Casting directors are now seeking talent for CBS new series developed by Stephen King, Under the Dome.

CBS “Under the Dome” is an upcoming American Sci-Fi drama television series developed by comic book and television writer, Brian K. Vaughn but, originally developed by the master of thriller Stephen King. Both Vaughan and King will serve as executive producers along with Neal Baer, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank and Stacey Snider. Baer will serve as day-to-day showrunner.Danish director Niels Arden Oplev will direct the pilot. The premiere of Under the Dome is scheduled for Monday, June 24, 2013 at 10PM on CBS.

“Under the Dome” centers on the story of a distant future where the residents of a small town of Chester’s Mill, Maine who cut themselves off from the rest of the world by a mysterious impentrable barrier that surrounds the town. As the town begins to tear itself apart through panic, a small group of people attempt to maintain peace and order while also trying to uncover the truth behind the barrier and how to escape from it.

Recently, Deadline reported that Rachelle Lefevre has been cast as the female lead opposite Mike Vogel and Dean Norris in Under The Dome, CBS’ 13-episode series from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin and Stephen King based on King’s bestselling 2009 novel. Lafevre will play Julia, an investigative reporter who’s just moved to Chester’s Mill from Chicago with her husband.

Under the Dome was first announced in December 2009, but it wasn’t another two years later that Vaughn was hired to develop the script from Stephen King’s novel. Further, Under the Dome was originally to be played on Showtime. But, the entertainment president David Nevins felt that the series was not a good look for the network and it was later suggested to Nina Tassler for their CBS network. Tassler was immediately fixated on this project and attached television producer Neal Baer is the current show’s show-runner  It was later announced in November 2012 that show was given a thirteen episode first season commitment.  “This is a great novel coming to the television screen with outstanding auspices and in-season production values to create a summer programming event,” commented Tassler in the official CBS Press release (Variety).
