Vin Diesel Reveals His Secret to Becoming a Famous Actor

Date:

Vin Diesel has starred in one of the biggest movies of 2017. But it was a long time coming for the actor.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, Vin Diesel shared his rise to fame and success and how he did it. Diesel explains that he decided to quit his bouncing job and moved to Los Angeles, California to become an actor. He expressed that he always dreamed of becoming an actor where he would star in dramatic movies and quickly make a big. However, Diesel revealed that he struggled with landing and agent in LA. Quickly after moving to Los Angeles, he started auditioning for talent agents, TV shows, and movies but, he was unable to land a job or representation. That is when he decided he will make his short film called ‘Multi-Facial.’

“I wrote and filmed a short film called “Multi-Facial.” It was, in essence, my story about how hard it was to get roles as a multiracial actor,” Diesel explained in the interview.

“To write my first script, I went to an early electronics store called the Wiz that was on 14th Street. They had a policy where you could return anything within 30 days, no questions asked. So I went to the Wiz and bought this $600 word processor on my student credit card. I stayed up all night, every night. And at the end of the 30 days I returned it.”

Diesel went on to explain that he edited the movie out of his mother’s house at a time before computers did any of the editings.

Afterward, he screened it at Anthology Films Archive, and he said his life was never the same again.

“I showed the movie and 20 minutes later, when the movie ended, the whole audience never looked at me the same. Friends from my neighborhood, friends who bounced with me, even my own parents, they looked at me so differently. I can’t even describe it.”

Since he made his first short film, Diesel said the opportunities kept rolling it. He would later land a role in the Steven Spielberg movie Saving Private Ryan.
