Cast of Netflix’s ‘GLOW’ Worked As Extras in Los Angeles

Date:

Did you know several of the actors on Netflix’s hit TV series Glow once worked as background extras in Los Angeles?

Before starting and having their own Netflix TV series, aspiring actors Marianna Palka, Alison Brie and Sydelle Granger were once background actors just trying to make it in Hollywood, California.

Central Casting broke the news on their blog earlier this month that the leading stars of Netflix’s new TV series GLOW once worked as background extras on TV shows and movies filming in Los Angeles, California.

“The cast features previous Central Casting actors Marianna Palka, Sydelle Noel and the star, Alison Brie! Also, there are many background actors featured throughout from Central Casting LA,” Central Casting wrote on their website.

Glow revolves around a group of women, aspiring filmmakers, and LA types during the 1980s who end up getting involved in women’s professional wrestling TV show called the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling.  Set in Los Angeles in 1985, Ruth Wilder (Brie), a struggling actress, receives an invitation to audition along with dozens of other women in a fledgling professional wrestling promotion called the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW). The series features Alison Brie as Ruth “Zoya the Destroya” Wilder, Betty Gilpin as Debbie “Liberty Belle” Eagan, Sydelle Noel as Cherry “Junkchain” Bang,  Britney Young as Carmen “Machu Picchu” Wade,  and Marc Maron as Sam Sylvia.
