VH1 pulls the plug on ‘The Osbournes’ reboot.
According to reports, the revival of the family reality series will not be happening any time soon.
VH1’s planned reboot of the former MTV reality series featuring Ozzy, Sharon, Jack and Kelly Osbourne is not moving forward.
We are no longer talking to the Osbournes about a series; that’s not going to happen,” Susan Levison, exec vp original programming and production at VH1, told THR. “We wish we could have worked it out, but it just didn’t come together for us. The family has been absolutely lovely and we wish them the best. We’d love to figure out a way to work with them at some point in the future.”
Apparently, the TV series had legal issues which caused controversy behind the scenes.
In a lawsuit filed April 3 in California federal court, JOKS — the production company behind the MTV series and of which Jack Osbourne is a member — sued Schweet Entertainment. The company claims Schweet, which Osbourne owns with producing partners Rob Worsoff and Brian Wendel, has a 55 percent interest in any upcoming episodes of The Osbournes.
Without the reality show, Kelly Osbourne is now unemployed. The reality star/fashion icon recently quit working on E!’s ‘Fashion Police’.
Ten years ago, ‘The Osbournes’ was once the most watched TV series on MTV. Sharon Osbourne revealed that the series was planning on airing six to eight episodes.
