Warner Bros. is working on a Supergirl movie.

Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are reportedly working on a Supergirl feature film. Variety reports the studios have hired 22 Jump Street writer Oren Uziel to write the script, but have not yet found a producer for the project.

The character has been played by actress Melissa Benoit in the CW series that’s now heading into its fourth season.

The character first appeared in Action Comics #252 with writer Otto Binder and illustrator Al Plastino. Supergirl, who was born and raised in Argo City, a fragment of Krypton that survived destruction, is sent to Earth to be raised by her cousin, known as Superman. Supergirl is letter adopted and takes the secret identity of orphan Linda Lee and joins an orphanage.

DC Entertainment has several movies coming soon including Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, which hits theaters in December and Shazam in 2019.

The launch of Supergirl illustrates Warner Bros. commitment to competing with Marvel’s dominance in the movie genre. Wonder Woman was met with critical acclaim while Justice League failed to connect with audiences.
