From The Daily Beast:

It seems Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chairman Amy Pascal is a big fan of the idea, too.

An email sent on January 4, 2014, from Pascal to Elizabeth Cantillon, former executive vice president of production for Columbia Pictures, which distributes the Bond films, simply says, “Idris should be the next bond.”

There have been rumors online circulating that Idris Elba should be the next James Bond making him the first black 007. Current spy, Daniel Craig even voiced his desire telling Rolling Stone in 2012, “I’ve been trying to get out of this from the very moment I got into it. But they won’t let me go, and I’ve agreed to do a couple more, but let’s see how this one does, because business is business and if the shit goes down, I’ve got a contract that somebody will happily wipe their ass with.”

UPDATE:

Idris Elba responds to James Bond rumors.

Ever since Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal’s hacked email box revealed that “Idris should be the next bond,” rumors have spread like wildfire that Idris Elba will change the franchise forever.

In a response to the numerous Twitter questions, Idris Elba wrote a note on Saturday.

“Isn’t 007 supposed to handsome? Glad you think I’ve got a shot!”

The response arrived after quotes from Rush Limbaugh said that James Bond had to be “white and Scottish” during his late December radio show.

Spectre, the latest movie in the James Bond series starring Daniel Craig, is setting up for a November 6, 2015 release date. Spectre was also a victim of the Sony Hack in which part of the script was stolen and released onto the Internet.
