Oscar 2016 Snubs: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Date:

Here are the 5 biggest Oscar snubs of 2016

The Academy Awards 2016 are finally over. And while many people predicted Stallone and Star Wars to walk away with an award, they were among the long list of movies, actors, and productions that were snubbed.

Here are the 5 biggest Oscar snubs of 2016.

5. Star Wars

Despite airing on the Disney-owned ABC network, the Oscars coincidentally didn’t reward the highest grossing Disney movie in history, the Star Wars.

The Force Awakens went into Sunday night’s show with five nominations but went home empty-handed despite many people predicting the movie would win at least one award.

Still, the Oscars telecast did feature a ton of cute scenes including some of the Universe’s most popular droids: C-3PO, R2-D2 and BB-8.

4. Carol

Carol was another movie that was nominated several times but ended up winless at the Oscars, ending the 1950s-set lesbian love story, which earned several nominations at different award shows across the country.

3. The Martian

The Martian was another surprising shut out. The box office hist movie earned seven nominations at one point was a favorite to win best picture. But, needless to say, Matt Damon went home empty handed.

2. Sicario & Brooklyn

After losing all of the awards for which they were nominated Sicario and Brooklyn analysts didn’t predict the movies were going to take home any awards.

1 . Steve Jobs & Kate Winslet

Steve Jobs was also snubbed this year after failing to win either of the two awards for which it was nominated. Steve Jobs featured Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet, and while DiCaprio was a favorite to win best actor, Winset was expected to win best supporting actress.

SYLVESTER STALLONE!

Meanwhile, the biggest snub of the evening came against Sylvester Stallone and Lady Gaga as they both lost oscars they were favored to win. Stallone the favorite in the best supporting actor category and Gaga the favorite to win the best original song however, Mark Rylance and Sam Smith won those categories.
