Georgia is quickly taking over the TV and film industry. Here are the 34 movies and TV shows filming in Georgia this February.
Georgia has quickly became the “Hollywood of the South”. In little less than a decade, more movies and TV shows are filming in the Peach state than most places around the world. In fact, a recent study has put Georgia as the third largest film industry in the world only behind the United Kingdom. And with the recent BREXIT issues, expect Georgia’s film industry to only grow and possibly become the number #1 filmmaking location in the world.
In 2007 the Georgia Film, Music and Digital Entertainment office reported an economic impact of $241 million for all of the film and TV productions in Georgia. In 2015, the same office reported an economic impact of $7 billion. That is one huge bump.
This time last year, there were 27 productions filming in Georgia. Now, heading into 2017 there are 34 new TV shows and movies setting up shofw in the Peach State.
Georgia Film Tax Credit:
A state tax credit was signed into law in 2008 giving productions up to a 30 percent tax break by filming in Georgia. This incentive was enough to convince Hollywood producers to film in Georgia.
Big productions such as The Hunger Games, The Walking Dead and Divergent helped boost Georgia’s film industry. In fact, small cities are now being used as filming locations. Producers are searching and finding small towns across Georgia to film their TV shows. The small town of Senoia, Georgia has transformed since The Walking Dead set up location in the small town.
So what’s next? In November, Pinewood studios announced they will be doubling the size of their studios, expanding the Georgia Film Industry, making it one of the the biggest studios in the United States.

In case you haven’t heard, the reboot of the iconic action series has cast Straight Outta Compton breakout Corey Hawkins in the leading role. Taking over for previous series star Kiefer Sutherland, Hawkins will play an entirely new character named Eric Carter in 24: Legacy. “Strong and smart, Eric came from a very rough background and turned his life around in the Army Rangers,” reads the official description. “Now back home in Virginia with his wife Nicole, he’s pulled back into action as his past comes looking for him.”
Covert black ops and espionage take a back seat to zany personalities and relationships between secret agents and drones.
The series was extremely popular on BET since it first debuted in 2013. For it’s entire three year run, Being Mary Jane was ranked as the number one scripted series among African American audiences. In fact, the most recent season averaged 2.54 million viewers, which makes it one of the top 5 cable TV shows in the key demographic. However, the show’s creator, showrunner, and director, Salim Akil and Mara Brock Akil signed a major deal with Warner Bros. Television in May which delayed the renewal of Being Mary Jane.

Details have not been released but it is rumored Dwayne Johnson will star in this upcoming production.
The script centers on the relationship between an emotionally stunted aunt and her 13-year-old niece. Taylor Schilling has closed a deal to star in the indie Fam-i-ly, the directorial debut of writer Laura Steinel, perhaps best known for her work on Amazon comedy Red Oaks.

Friday the 13th is now filming under the code name “forest green”
A noirish crime thriller, Galveston centers on New Orleans hitman Roy Cady, diagnosed with lung cancer at 40. Before the cancer can do him in, however, he has more pressing concerns in the form of his mobster boss, who has decided to remove him from the business – and the world – via a set-up. Turning the tables, he goes on the run having rescued teenage hooker Raquel “Rocky” Arceneaux. He’s persuaded to pick up her baby sister Tiffany, and with his new wards in tow, heads to his titular hometown to scheme revenge and redemption.

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Season 6
Love & Hip Hop Atlanta chronicles the lives of several women who are connected to Hip hop music. The third season premiered with Kalenna Harper, Yung Joc, and Waka Flocka Flame joining the cast. VH1 has renewed the show for the fourth season.

Under the aegis of the Department of External Services, MacGyver takes on the responsibility of saving the world, armed to the teeth with resourcefulness and little more than bubble gum and a paper clip.
Variety reports that the new series “Manifesto” will center around the story of how the FBI brought down one of the most infamous criminal masterminds in the world — Ted Kaczynski, also known as the Unabomber — from the point of view of an FBI profiler.
Written and directed by the creative team from Captain America: Civil War, The Avengers: Infinity War will focus on basically every character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe including the Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man and even Ant-Man, which should provide quite an amazing movie.
Production for Black Panther started two years ago and centers around T’Challa aka Black Panther, who premiered in the latest Marvel movie, Captain America: Civil War, which also filmed in Atlanta, Georgia.
Details surrounding the feature film have not been released. But, Anna Kendrick, Hailee Steinfeld, and Anna Camp will be returning for the sequel.

The drama series starring, executive produced and directed by Jason Bateman, has landed at Netflix and centers around dark and dangerous world of drug-money laundering. The series takes its name from the location where it is set, The Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, according to Deadline.com.
Deadline reports that Rampage will be directed by Brad Peyton and star Dwayne Johnson. Details surrounding the plot of Rampage have not been released. But, the movie is based on the hit 1980s video game Rampage. Rampage is a 1986 arcade game where players control one of three giant monsters trying to rack up points by destroying cities while avoiding being shot at by tanks and helicopters.
Star tracks down her sister, SIMONE (newcomer Brittany O’Grady), and her Instagram bestie, ALEXANDRA (newcomer Ryan Destiny), and together, the trio journeys to Atlanta to become music superstars.

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda
The movie centers around a young gay teen takes a novel approach to coming out to his classmates. The movie features Nick Robinson, Alexandra Shipp, and Logan Miller. The project will be directed by Greg Berlanti.

Superstition: Final Chance
According to reports, Global Renaissance Entertainment Group has entered into a multi-picture production deal with Jeffrey Reddick, creator of the “Final Destination” franchise. The film is being set up as the first in a series of pictures aimed at Reddick’s horror fan base from the five Final Destination movies. The movie features an ensemble cast that includes Lauryn McClain, Evan Ross, Logan Paul, Jhene Aiko, Shad Moss and many more!
The Originals is a spin-off from The Vampire Diaries and set in New Orleans, The Originals centers on the Mikaelson siblings, otherwise known as the world’s original vampires: Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), and Rebekah (Claire Holt). Now Klaus must take down his protégé, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), who is now in charge of New Orleans, in order to re-take his city, as he originally built New Orleans.
