Netflix Subscribers Watched a Ton of Dave Chappelle and Adam Sandler

According to Netflix is first-quarter earnings report, was released on Monday, people love watching Adam Sandler. When the news broke that Netflix signed a four-picture deal with the comedic actor earlier this year, many people asked why? But the earnings report illustrates that people spend hours watching Adam Sammon movies.

“We continue to be excited by our Sandler relationship and our members continue to be thrilled with his films,” Netflix explained in the report. “Since the launch of The ‘Ridiculous 6,’ Netflix members have spent more than half a billion hours enjoying the films of Adam Sandler.”

It is important to note that a large majority of Adam Sandler’s movies have received less than a 60% positive review from critics, according to Rotten Tomatoes.

People may simply enjoy watching poorly-reviewed Adam Sandler movies. For example, Sandler’ s first movie on Netflix was the most-watched 30-day opening of any movie on the streaming service ever. Moreover, the movie currently has a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

What is also surprising is that Netflix is CEO revealed, “Netflix subscribers have spent half a billion hours watching Adam Sandler movies since The Ridiculous Six launched.”

In other news, Netflix also explained that Dave Chapelle’s comedy special was the “most viewed comedy special ever” and the company plans on expanding comedy on the platform.

“The triumphant return of a comedy legend in Dave Chappelle: Collection 1 was our most viewed comedy special ever. We are also finding this to be true in international markets as well, with comedian Gad Elmaleh’s Gad Gone Wild, a breakout hit in France last quarter.”
