In 2013 the biggest blockbusters had strong female leads

According to vocativ.com, the biggest movies in 2013 scored pretty high on the Bechdel Test, a test that measures the quality of screen time for women.

The three-part criteria for a movie to pass: It has to have (1) at least two women in it, who (2) talk to each other about (3) something besides a man.

What we found is this: The grand total domestic box office number for the movies that passed is significantly higher than the box office totals for the movies that didn’t. We’re talking billions.
