Idris Elba may have shared his thoughts on becoming the next James Bond.
On Sunday, Elba posted a series of tweets, beginning with a selfie accompanied by the caption “my name’s Elba, Idris Elba,” a reference to the James Bond franchise.
A few hours later, however, he posted an image of the rap group Public Enemy and followed up with the lyric from one of their most popular songs, “Don’t Believe The Hype.” Whether or not these cryptic tweets are about the rumors circulating the Elba is being eyed as the next James Bond remains to be seen.
Last week, Daily Star published a story saying that Bond producer Barbar Broccoli told director Antoine Fuqua it was time to cast a non-white actor for the role and said Elba would be perfect for the acting job.
Fuqua’s reps denied the story saying no such conversation ever happened.
Daniel Craig is confirmed he would be returning to the role for Bond 25, and according to Variety, Broccoli and Eon are currently meeting with actresses and actors for the female lead and villain for the film and not trying to find someone to replace Daniel Craig in Bond 26.
