Elvis Presley’s step brother says Presley committed suicide.

According to Elvis Presley’s step brother, Presley planned to kill himself and told his family of his intentions two days before he committed suicide.

David Stanley says Presley, told him he was going to a “higher plane” and that his death was no accident, in a memoir called My Brother Elvis. He claims that the singer deliberately overdosed on pills and had deteriorated to such a state that his entourage had to help him use the toilet.

Presley died at the young age of 42 on August 16, 1977, after collapsing on the floor of the bathroom at his Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee.

A coroner said he died of a heart attack. According to reports, Elvis suffered from depressed and binged on junk food. Toxicology tests found several drugs in his body including codeine at 10 times the normal level.

The book’s author said he last saw Presley two days before he died, where he writes, the singer told him he was going away and that they would meet again “on a higher plane”. Two days later Presley died and Stanley writes he remembers thinking he had “done this on purpose.” In addition, he claims that after his step brother’s death, he hid needles and pills in his pockets before the police came.
