Chris Pratt Reveals Details from His “Embarrassing” G.I. Joe Audition

Date:

Chris Pratt from Guardians of the Galaxy recently revealed details surrounding his embarrassing audition for ‘G.I. Joe’.

Chris Pratt went from a recurring role on Parks and Recreation to leading Hollywood A-Lister almost overnight. His latest feature film, “Guardians of the Galaxy” made $94 million last weekend. But, surprisingly he almost turned down the chance to work on the Marvel movie.

In a recent interview with Esquire Magazine, Chris Pratt shared how he almost passed on the chance to play Star-Lord in “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

“When ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ was pitched to me, I said, ‘I don’t think so,’” he tells Esquire magazine for their September cover story. “I just didn’t picture myself getting the role. I didn’t want to go and embarrass myself like I did when I auditioned for ‘G.I. Joe’ a couple of years previously. I went in there, and halfway through I saw the director’s eyes just glaze over. It made sense–I was a little heavy and out of shape. I was not gonna play someone from G.I. Joe. I did not look like a G.I. Joe action figure come to life.”

To make sure that he was not out of shape for his next audition, the actor worked hard to lose that extra belly fat. In an interview with Men’s Fitness, Chris Pratt revealed how he did it. “Three or four hours a day of just consistent, ass-kicking hard work,” the 35-year-old actor told Men’s Fitness. Pratt’s workouts included P90X , running, swimming, boxing, and kickboxing, and he even completed a triathlon. With the help of a personal trainer and nutritionist, the actor increased his caloric intake to 4,000 calories a day and drank tons of water. “I was peeing all day long, every day. That part was a nightmare,” Pratt told the magazine.
