Firefighter Dies On Set of the New Bruce Willis Movie ‘Motherless Brooklyn’

Firefighter dies on set of the new Bruce Willis movie in New York City fighting a fire.

According to reports, Michael Davidson, 37, was reported missing after a mayday call at the burning building. The 15-year-veteran who was awarded for bravery four times was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. It is understood the fire happened on the set of Motherless Brooklyn, which is set to star Bruce Willis, Ed Norton and Alex Baldwin among others. The film crew was setting up to shoot outside the building when Norton saw smoke coming from the basement and alerted a nearby police officer.

According to Daily Star, neighbor Daquan Evans, 28, said: “That actor Ed Norton walked right by. He looked pretty upset. 

“This is crazy this fire. You think a movie comes up here and it is good for the neighborhood. 

“Not a fire, you don’t think it will set a fire.”

Five other people suffered non-life threatening injuries, firefighters confirmed.

The New York Fire Department said: “Firefighter Davidson was critically injured while fighting a 5-alarm fire in Manhattan.

“He was transported to Harlem Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

“Firefighter Davidson is survived by his wife, Eileen, and four children. 

“He is the 1,150th member to make the Supreme Sacrifice while serving our city.”

About Motherless Brooklyn:

Edward Norton will direct and star in Motherless Brooklyn. According to reports, the movie is set in New York in 1954, a time of great change in the city. Norton plays Lionel Essrog, a lonely private detective afflicted with Tourette’s syndrome, who tries to solve the murder of his mentor and only friend. Armed only with few clues and an obsessive mind, Lionel slowly unravels closely guarded secrets that have major ramifications. It leads him through Harlem jazz clubs, Brooklyn slums and sets him against thugs and Gotham power brokers to honor his friend and save a woman who might his own salvation.
