The Office is a comedy TV series broadcasted by NBC. It is based off of the BBC Series, The Office. The Office was adapted for American audiences by Greg Daniels, a former writer of Saturday Night Live, King of the Hill, and the Simpsons. The series is centered on the everyday lives of office employees in Scranton, Pennsylvania of a fictional paper company, Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. To recreate the look of an actual documentary it is filmed with a single camera, without a studio audience or laugh track. Also, the show is executive produced by Ricky Gervais, the creator and star of the BBC version.
The Office has received a lot of praise from critics and has been included on several top TV series lists, and has won several awards including four Emmy Awards, and one for Outstanding Comedy Series. Contrary to popular belief, the show debuted with low ratings, but after the second season, it became the highest rated scripted show on NBC and was chosen to follow the Super Bowl.
The Office features Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinksi, Jenna Fischer, B.J. Novak, and Ed Helms. In association with, Deedle-Dee Productions, Shine America, and Universal Television.
