HBO “True Detectives” starring Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey Hiring

Cary Fukunaga is scheduled to direct all eight episodes of “True Detectives” and it is described as an adventurous narrative with multiple perspectives and time frames. It will center on two detectives, Rust Cohle played by McConaughey and Martin Hart played by Harrelson, who live relatievely normal lives until they collide during a seventeen year search for a serial killer in Louisiana. The investigation of a murder that occured in 1995 is framed and mixed with testimaony from detectives in 2012, when the case has been reopened.
Deadline explains that “The concept is for the 8-episode first season to resolve the mystery at hand, with subsequent seasons using same structure but new characters and story. I hear that, in addition to the assembled team of a writer, director and stars, the pitch for True Detectiveincludes two written episodes and a bible.”
This will be the first television collaboration for both McConaughey and Harrelson who previously worked on EDtv and Surfer, Dude together. This will also be McConaughey’s first regular TV series opportunity, while Harrelson it will be a welcomed return since he became a household name in the hit TV series “Cheers”
