‘Fantastic Beasts’ Open Casting Call for Lead Speaking Roles

Date:

The Harry Potter spinoff, Fantastic Beasts is now casting lead principal speaking roles.

Fantastic Beasts is now holding an open casting call for a young Newt Scamander and Albus Dumbledore. Teenagers between the ages of 13 to 18 are invited to audition for several lead roles including Gellert Grindelwald and Leta Lestrange

If you are between the ages of 13 to 18, get your headshot ready because the Harry Potter franchise wants you to audition for a role in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel.

Harry Potter HQ has posted an open casting call for teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18 to audition to play younger incarnations of Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander, Leta Lestrange (portrayed in the first film by Zoe Kravitz) and an unidentified character called Sebastian.

Casting directors are also looking for teens between the ages of 16 and 18 to play younger versions of Albus Dumbledore, who will be played by Jude Law in the sequel and Gellert Grindelwald who will be played by Johnny Depp in the sequel

J.K. Rowling previously discussed that Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald’s complicated relationship will be discussed in the upcoming movie. Casting teenage actors of the characters hints that fans may be able to see their famous beach fight and the death of Ariana Dumbledore, along with the development of the Deathly Hallows.

Meanwhile, the casting of a young Newt and Leta suggests that we may well see why the young magizoologist was kicked out of Hogwarts – and discover the true nature of his relationship with the mysterious Ms Lestrange.

How to apply for the Fantastic Beasts Open Casting Call:

To apply for the Fantastic Beasts open casting call you need to send an email to [email protected] with a recent colour photograph, (i.e., taken within the last two months), contact telephone number, your home address and date of birth. Anyone under 18 must ask a parent or guardian to send the application.

No previous acting experience is necessary, but applicants need to be eligible to work in the UK (meaning they must be a UK, Irish or EU passport holder), and be available for filming between August and November 2017.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday, 20 June 2017 at midnight GMT.

About Fantastic Beasts:

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, fans learned that Albus and Gellert were once friends, before becoming fierce enemies.

Meanwhile, Newt Scamander’s relationships and past remain enigmatic, so any glimpse into his formative years will be huge for the character. Leta Lestrange was mentioned in the first Fantastic Beasts film as having a ‘close friendship’ with Newt at Hogwarts, and her photograph was seen in Newt’s workshop.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them premiered in New York City on 10 November 2016 and was released worldwide on November 18th. The film received positive reviews from critics and grossed $814 million worldwide, making it the eighth highest-grossing film of 2016.
